Glass Museums

Indiana

  • Glass Museum

    Features 5000+ pieces of glass produced in the east-central gas belt by factories in Dunkirk, Albany, and others. Includes Depression, Vaseline, custard, handblown, hand and machine pressed, bottles, canes, stained glass windows and others. Open May 1 through November 1. During the first weekend in June, the annual Glass Days Festival is held in Dunkirk.
  • Greentown Glass Museum

    A small, but inclusive museum dedicated to the products of the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company which operated for less than 10 years between 1894-1903 that produced unique forms and colors, including Chocolate Glass, Golden Agate (Holly Amber), Nile Green, etc. Also included are pieces produced at other factories where Jacob Rosenthal, developer of Chocolate Glass, also worked after leaving Greentown. The annual Greentown Glass Festival and Antique Show is held during the second weekend in June.

    Contains several collections, including the Greentown Collection of Dr. Ruth Herrick, Lion pattern, and Lacy glass. The collection is not regularly on display.
  • Howard County Historical Museum

    Has modest collection of Kokomo and Greentown glass that is not permanently displayed, but arrangements can be made to study it.

    Has a representative collection of various types of American pressed glass including items in clear, milk, and colored glass and is housed in an 1864 Friends Meeting House.

Iowa

Kansas

Louisiana

    Museum houses collection of American and European paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts spanning four centuries. Much of the glass collection represents three patterns: Lion, Westward Ho!, and U.S. Coin on permanent display. Also has collection of Steuben glass.
  • Ruby Stain Glass Museum

    The ruby stain museum is devoted to building a comprehensive collection of ruby stained pattern glass, a small sub-set of pattern glass. The collection contains thousands of pieces of ruby stained glass, located in seperategs, functioning as a prototype of a permanent study collection and museum.
