Membership Renewals

A yearly membership in our Society covers a calendar year from January 1st to the end of December. Any new member that joins after October first is considered paid up until December of the next year. This member will not receive any of the back issues of the NewsJournal or correspondence, if any, from the first nine months of the year.

A membership renewal notice is sent by mail in January of each year to the address currently listed in our membership data base. In addition, a reminder is included in the Spring issue of the NewsJournal. If we do not receive your renewal by April 30th your name will be dropped from the mailing list and you will not receive a NewsJournal or any further correspondence.

Some members may think this a very cut and dried approach to membership renewal, but I can remember the years when the chase for renewals went on into September and October. This approach is a waste of volunteer time. Your membership renewal is your responsibility.

If you would like to double check the status of your membership just look at the mailing label on your recent copy of the NewsJournal. If you see a date reference that reads 12/31/2006, you are paid up. In some cases the date may be 12/31/2007 which indicates you have prepaid an additional year. This is a new label format that should be useful to all of us.

At the April 2006 Trustee Meeting a membership renewal coordinator was appointed and that person is Courtney Sloan. If you think that you are a delinquent member you can talk to Courtney by phone at (913) 681-1452, by email at or you could just write the check and send it to him at: Courtney Sloan, P.O. Box 7626, Shawnee Mission, Kansas, 66207.

For 2007 there will be one class of membership (voting member) and the yearly membership fee will be $35.00 or two years at $65.00.

Please do not send your renewals to Fred Phelps unless absolutely necessary. Fred is the new member coordinator and a renewal sent to Fred just adds confusion to the process.
