LOOKING AHEAD TO 2009

Earlier this year the Trustees announced a change in the format of the plans for our 2008 annual meeting.  The 2008 meeting will once again be held in Harrisburg with the Sheraton Four Points as our central meeting place.  The dates will be April 25- 26, in conjunction with the Eastern National Antique Show and Sale.

Our 2008 Annual Meeting will be condensed into a two-day event.  This year for the first time the antique show will only be a two-day show and thus the need for change.  There will also be a change in our Friday evening banquet and fund raising auction because it will be held right in the “Grand Foyer” of the State Farm Show Complex.  There will be no need to go back to the hotel, after the antique show closes just walk into the reception area, after a social time the evening program will begin.

The Trustees are delighted to announce that the speaker for the evening will be Barbara Payne and her topic “Glass Factories Shatter”.  Get ready for a treat coming from a collector-dealer-teacher with a wealth of knowledge about Ohio glass factory history.

Looking ahead to our 2009Annual Meeting, I have something really important to draw to your attention.

After considerable discussion on the “pros” and “cons”, the Trustees are making plans to move the 2009 Annual Meeting to Indianapolis, Indiana, to be held in association with the “Hoosier Antique Show”.  The actual dates are not final but it will be in early April and will not conflict with the dates of the Eastern National Antique Show.  Committees have been appointed to search out our hotel venue, also to develop and expand the educational content of our annual meeting.  Early suggestions are to allow members one day at the antique show then a second day right away from the show to include a program on expanding our antique glass knowledge base.

So mark your calendar 2008 in Harrisburg and 2009 in Indianapolis.
