Current Trustees
Dan Jensen
President of EAPGS
Dan Jensen and his wife Carolyn have been collectors many years and are interested in ceramics as well as EAPG. "The Early American Pattern Glass Society is one of the friendliest and welcoming organizations Carolyn and I have had the pleasure to join. We have made many new friends who have been generous in sharing their knowledge about EAPG and giving us advice about building our collection of flint glass. As treasurer for the Society, I hope that my background in accounting and teaching will enable me to work with the trustees to strengthen the organization and enhance the experience it provides for all our members."

Ray Myers
Treasurer
I am a native of the Pittsburgh area and retired from ‘two tours of duty’ within the banking industry sandwiched around a venture into entrepreneurship in establishing a successful advertising agency. All of this I truly loved and believe it or not still miss every once in a while.
After starting to collect pattern glass about eight years prior I joined the EAPG Society in 1994 or 1995. What really sparked my interest was that during that time was when I had the advertising agency located in the south side of Pittsburgh. This area was home to many of the old glass companies with some of their original buildings within a couple blocks of our offices.
The ‘hunt’ and the infrequent ‘thrill of victory’ still provide me with my greatest thrill! My EAPG collection focuses primarily on historical and figural with some English and other unique pieces also finding a home. Additionally, I also collect vintage fountain pens and pencils, Victorian pocket Bibles and autograph books from the 1800’s. These I find particularly interesting because of the beautiful penmanship and verse.
I look forward to joining the other trustees of the EAPGS, utilizing the firm foundation of our organization that has been previously established, and developing strategies that will meet the ever-changing dynamics of the collecting world in serving our members.

My wife, Alice, and I began collecting EAPG soon after we married in 1965. We began dealing as a hobby in 1981, doing as many as 8 shows a year and having a case at 1 co-op. Our major collection is Jacob’s Ladder, but we have about 12 other “collections” of patterns or categories, including Early Moon and Star, Holbrook, Cornell, unusual colors, and groups of goblets that complement each other. We’re charter members of the EAPGS. I was one of the original Trustees and served as Treasurer at that time. I’m happy to serve again.
Professionally, I’m a planner and member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. I consult as director of a council of governments and a transportation authority, and was previously director of the Lancaster County Planning Commission. I’m a past president of the Pennsylvania Planning Association, and my current activities include serving as chairman of my township planning commission.

It all began with a reproduction goblet of the Duncan Three-face pattern that I found on a shelf in a shop years ago. I thought it was very pretty and purchased it! Thus began a collection of over 500 pieces of glass!
My primary collection is Three-face glass. But I expanded into creamers a number of years ago and now have many more patterns represented. My fascination with Early American Pattern Glass is the craftsmanship of the pieces. I still find it hard to believe the skill of the pattern makers. And the quality of the glass is also incredible. Most of the pieces in my collection are well over 100 years old and in excellent condition.
As a member of the EAPG Society, I enjoy networking with fellow glass enthusiasts. The amount of knowledge among the membership is outstanding and everyone is so willing to share. The friendships we have developed over the past years of working actively in the Society are invaluable.
I am honored to be a member of the Board of trustee and will do my best to represent all of the members of the Society.

I have had a nearly life-long interest in pattern glass. I started to collect milk glass in the early 1960's, then started to collect Greentown glass a few years later. Greentown glass is my major collecting interest, which resulted in my election as National Greentown Glass President in the late 1980's. I also collect historical glass, slag glass of various colors, Iowa City glass, Wavecrest, feather pattern, beveled star by Model Flint, yutec by McKee, and have an interest in all American glass, especially colored glass from about 1860 to 1920. My wife, Alice, and I have sold antiques on a modest scale since 1970, with emphasis on American glass. The collections and the antique market are part of my broader interest in all forms of history. I taught U.S. history in Iowa schools for 38 years, but am currently retired, ready to serve the broader interest of the pattern glass collecting community. I am interested in glass research, and am especially interested in broadening the interest in and appeal of pattern glass collecting. Thanks to all who elected me to the Board of Trustees. If I can be of further service to you, please contact me. I am interested in further communication with EAPGS members.

My wife (Sandra) and I have collected “Bellflower” pattern pressed glass for over thirty years.
During this time there arose gradually a desire to learn about the evolution of the pressing process, the identity and manufacturers of the numerous flint and non-flint patterns (particularly those of the last three quarters of the 19th century), as well as to meet other collectors and become acquainted with their collecting interest. For these reasons, we joined EAPGS about six years ago. We found a congenial and collegial group of people who enthusiastically shared their expertise and information. Because of this experience, I am pleased to serve a term as a Trustee and by this means do more to strengthen the Society for the benefit of our membership.
While collecting “Bellflower”, I was an academician and, thereby, acquired a keen sense of curiosity. This recently led me to begin a study of “Bellflower” base pattern differences and has resulted in a publication describing such differences observed on single-vine forms. My current plans include similar articles with regards to double-vine and cut “Bellflower” varieties. I anticipate that this will lead to conclusion about design styles, which can be attributed to different mid 19th century manufacturers.

Hi, to anyone who is thinking about joining the EAPGS do it. There are a lot of new friends here that you just have not met yet, along with a wealth of knowledge about pattern glass. The members of our group are from all over the country, and are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.
To the current members, I believe that we need to expand our numbers, and the popularity of Pattern Glass. The way to do this is to expose more people to Pattern Glass. We have to find ways and places to display our glass, so that more people come to love Pattern Glass, and enjoy it as we do.
About me I live in Bordentown New Jersey and I will be getting out of Prison soon. I work there, I will be retiring. I have been collecting pattern glass for about 20 years. I first came across a Westward ho creamer at an auction. It was not like anything I had seen before; I loved the dogs head on the handle. It went home with me. I went to the book store, and found a book on Pattern Glass, and found out a lot more about the glass and all of the patterns out there. I have collections of Westward Ho, Frosted Lion, Three Faces, Actress, and other pieces.

“I’ve been around glass all my life with parents who were avid collectors. Although collecting EAPG was not the focus of their collections, they would have been pleased to know their appreciation of glass has continued on and that I have grown into my own interests by collecting and preserving EAPG.
The artistic talents that created eapg patterns and colors continually amaze me; and I have developed a real thirst for knowledge of the history of manufacturing companies. Becoming actively involved with the Society has not only provided ample opportunities to learn but also to make connections with and develop wonderful friendships with fellow collectors, researchers and dealers of EAPG.
As my collections continue to evolve, I am drawn to the frosted and figural patterns as well as patterns with amber stain. In addition, primary patterns I collect are Westmoreland’s Victor – all colors, George Duncan & Son’s Ellrose w/amber stain, Crystal Glass Co.’s Frosted Stork, U.S. Glass state series – Iowa and glass manufactured by the Iowa City Flint Glass Manufacturing Company. The list continues to grow!”
“I am very pleased to be serving a second term for the EAPGS as a member of the Board of Trustees as well as the Society’s Dues Renewals chairperson. I welcome all contact from members and am willing to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have regarding the Society, our website and activities or if you just want to “talk glass”.
Sue resides in Muscatine, Iowa with her husband, Gary and is actively involved with the development of glass collections for two Iowa museums.
